Group Coaching & Exclusive LinkedIn Group

Because you bought the Standard Tier of this digital course, you will get an exclusive opportunity to get feedback on your facilitation and design through group coaching. This is a unique and valuable opportunity to learn from others, improve your skills and gain new insights.

Let me share with you the five benefits to group coaching:

  1. Learn from others. Instead of hearing from one coach, group coaching gives you the opportunity to learn from your peers. They will share their experiences, their successes and their failures, the lessons that they learned so you can apply them to your own IOE creation.
  2. Receive diverse feedback. You will get to hear from multiple people, which will give you a more comprehensive view on what your strengths and areas for improvement could be. You'll also get to hear how different people will interpret your IOEs differently.
  3. Practice in a safe environment. Group coaching allows you to try out new techniques and facilitation in a safe and supportive environment. You can experiment, make mistakes and learn from them without the pressures of a real online setting.
  4. Build a support network. You will get to build out a network of peers who are also vested in their craft of learning how to improve their own interactive online experiences. You will be able to draw feedback, support and inspiration from this group.
  5. Enhance your learning skills. Group coaching provides this unique combination of expert coaching, pure feedback and the opportunity to practice and reflect in real time. This will accelerate your ability to learn and develop your skills.

Keep in mind that this is a collaborative process, which means group coaching requires you to be open and to give feedback. It also requires you to be actively participating in the practice sessions.

Now, I want to share what to expect with group coaching. There are five steps:

  1. Presentation. This is where you will practice what you want to present. This might be sharing a new slide deck, new facilitation techniques, or a new exercise or game.
  2. Feedback. After you practice your presentation, there will be an open feedback session where different people will give you feedback on what they saw went well, what didn't go so well and what could be improved.
  3. Discussion. This is where you can discuss that feedback to develop a better understanding of where the feedback is coming from and to talk about possible things to change.
  4. Reflection. This is silent reflection time for you after you've already had this discussion with others. This is for you to process what feedback you want to take and what feedback you want to reject. This is to help you figure out what's important to you.
  5. Action. After you've had that silent reflection time, you then decide what action you will take based on that feedback. Remember, just because someone gave you feedback, doesn't mean that you have to take it.

This group coaching is a safe, non-judgmental space for you to learn from one another. You also have to be prepared to come into this space. Let me give you five tips on how to be prepared to contribute and to benefit from group coaching:

  1. Identify your focus. Be specific about what you would like to gain from the group coaching. On what kind of feedback you would like and share that with others. The more specific you can be, the more relevant their feedback can be.
  2. Be open to their feedback. Come in with an open mind. Remember that feedback is not a personal attack. We're all learning for one another.
  3. Give feedback. Feedback is a two-way street. Since this is all about learning from one another, you should be prepared to provide feedback that is constructive, specific and kind.
  4. Reflect on your experiences. Think about what you are learning from creating your IOEs. What are your successes? What are your failures? That way, you can share those lessons with the others in your group.
  5. Be active in your participation. With this group coaching, you get what you put into it. So, remember to actively listen, ask questions and give feedback with your peers.

Since you are a member of this course at this level, you will also get access to the private LinkedIn group, where you will see news, updates, resources, and also discussions facilitated by the CuriosityBased team for you to get the latest and greatest in how you can improve your own interactive online experiences with your peers. You can also network and build valuable connections here. You will need to have a LinkedIn account. If you don't have one, you will need to set one up.
