Who we are

We at CuriosityBased are committed to helping people practice curiosity in the world, starting in the workplace, because that is where we spend the most of our waking hours. And how we feel at work influences every other part of our lives. We create original content to guide people in this practice of curiosity; in self-awareness, relationship building and clear communication. We deliver this content through our interactive learning experiences. Since we started in the middle of the pandemic, we had to learn how to quickly create our content online. And since then, thousands of people have participated in our interactive online experiences.

Now I want to talk about each team member.

Dr. Julie Pham (the founder and CEO of CuriosityBased): My role is to author the original content we use in our learning experiences. One topic I will talk a lot about in this course as an example is my book 7 Forms of Respect: A Guide to Transforming Your Communication and Relationships at Work. My background is in academia, media, technology, marketing, and nonprofit management. I'm an award winning community organizer who applies my community building lens to my team building, organizational development work.

Hnin Johnson (Project Manager): She heads all of our tech initiatives and determines which tech tools we will use in our video content creation, operational efficiencies, digital course, as well as project management. Hnin coined the term “Zoom Jockey” (aka ZJ) to describe her role in supporting the learning designers and facilitators in ensuring a seamless experience in our interactive online experiences. We can thank her for all of the different tech tools and integrations you will be introduced to throughout this course.

Linh Huynh (Senior Learning and Development Specialist): She is in charge of taking my first draft of the learning experiences and making it even better, consistent, scalable and repeatable. She is also a gifted facilitator, so she also understands the pains that facilitators go through. Her background is in nonprofits, educational institutions, and government agencies. She's worked with a lot of people aged 3 to 19, so she's got a lot of patience and adaptability. She also has a very careful eye at putting together step-by-step guides for how facilitators and designers can think about creating this learning experience.

Mikaila Culverson (Marketing Communications and Content Manager): She heads our marketing communication strategy and digital content creation. Her background is in social work, training, and facilitation, so she has a deep understanding of the nuances of effective communication and engagement.

We are so excited to share with you everything we've learned in designing these interactive online experiences with you because we believe that if we can do this, then everyone is going to benefit.

Now, I want to share with you some kind words from participants from our interactive online experiences.

“The workshop experience was incredible – people entered the Zoom room as acquaintances and exited with real relationships. I had a couple of skeptics make a point of following up to tell me how surprised they were by the level of engagement they felt in the workshop.”

“At a time where craving connection and being in a relationship is craved by our team, CuriosityBased created an experience where our staff could find small moments of authenticity in a safe and intimate space…”

“Our experience with the CuriosityBased team was impressive and immediately effective. It was upbeat, fun, and highly motivating. The skills we learned were practical and the experience brought our team together with renewed energy and purpose.”

“The most effective use of Zoom technology that I have seen.”
