The learning objectives for this course are:

  • You’ll learn what the 7 Forms of Respect are
  • You’ll learn the different dimensions of respect 
  • You’ll reflect on which forms of respect matter and don’t matter to you
  • You’ll learn how to articulate why you want certain forms of respect
  • You’ll reflect on how you interact with others 
  • You’ll learn skills to clearly communicate how you want to be respected

You’re going to learn how to transform your relationships with others. But first, you have to dig deep into the most important relationship in your life. The relationship with yourself. That’s why we spend from Module 2 to 5 on increasing your self-awareness. You have to be able to have tough conversations with yourself before you can have them with others. 

Module 6 will be the biggest module, because we’re going to cover all 7 Forms of Respect. Then, in Module 7 and 8, I’ll share how to apply the framework to your relationships. In Module 9, we’ll recap the key learnings from the course. And then in Module 10, we’ll talk about what’s next.

This course includes a workbook where I pose questions for you to answer. After each lesson, I will point to the corresponding exercise in the workbook. Now, this workbook is a downloadable, fillable PDF. So you can actually fill it out right on your computer and save the answers. Or, you can print out the workbook and write in your answers by hand. Or you can just look at the reflection questions, which we include in the transcript, and you can write down the answers in a separate document, like your journal. 

Now, we also include quizzes for you to test your knowledge of what you’ve learned. We try to include different ways for you to interact with the course because we understand that there are different learning styles. You can find the workbook at the end of the next video, and you can download it there. 

Now, this is a self-paced course and if you were to watch the video straight through, it would be about over an hour’s worth of video. You can also take the course in one sitting in about 2 to 3 hours, depending on how much you write. You can spread out the course for whenever’s convenient to you and it’ll take you about 10-20 minutes to do each module. When you’re done watching a video, please mark ‘complete’. And you can go back and re-watch any of the videos at any time. 

When you’re done with the course, you will be invited to sign up for a live small group coaching session with me or one of my colleagues. There, you can practice what you’ve learned and ask us specific questions. You can find the link to sign up in your introductory email, or in the introductory letter in the workbook, or wait until you get to Module 10, and the link will be in the transcript. 

Now, I want to emphasize that this course focuses on your individual self-awareness and communication skills. When you get clear with what you want, then you’ll be able to communicate more clearly with others, and transform your relationships with them. What this course won’t do is teach you how to get other people to communicate differently with you. You can only control yourself. 

Now, there is a difference in how to apply the 7 Forms of Respect to teams and organizations. That is to say, what matters to you as an individual may differ when you are in a team setting or an organization wide setting, and we cover that in our live workshops, and in other courses.
